A one
day orientation program was conducted
among Swacchata Doots at Conference Hall, Block Office, Sonapur Kamrup (M), on
15th Of June 2016. The programme was conducted Swachha Bharat Mission Kamrup
Metro in collaboration with Public Health Engineering Department Kamrup and District
Project Management Unit ,Neer Nirmal Pariyojna,Kamrup(M) under World Bank
Project.
The
welcome Address was given by Shri. Bikash Barman, Member of the Block Resource
Group, Dimoria Block.
The
meeting was attended by PHED officials, Supervising Officers, Block Resource
Group members Asst. Engineer, Junior Assistant Engineers and World Bank Project
officials. The beginning of the meeting, background of Swachhata Doot meeting
was shared by Shri. Madan Kalita, BRC, Dimoria Block and highlighted on the need
of Swachhata Doot, their role responsibilities, their importance in the field
and gave a detailed impression of the kind of work to be conducted. Block
Resource Coordinator mentioned about type of hurdles Swachhata Doot will face
in coming times and shared at length few pointers to overcome from his personal
experience. He emphasized more on quality of work to be conducted with
practical approach with the help of NGO assigned for the construction of toilet
and the Swachhata Doot being a linkage with the department of PHED and
community.
In
the meeting Shri. Bikash Barman representative of the NGO discussed at length
on organisation’s role in construction of the toilet and the measures that will
be undertaken in installation of toilets in the block. PHED officials spoke on
how to meet with issues faced in the site and the department’s role in meeting
with community’s needs.
Sri
Ramesh Das, Member of Block Resource Group, Dimoria Block took part in the
discussion who gave few motivational advises and some valuable suggestion to
the youths of the community to boost their zeal and spirit.
Work
Bank Project (SPMU) representative Dr. Jhumpa Dey shared some insights on Swachhata
Doots’ roles, background of the programme and the contribution they can provide
to the programme through mass awareness and IEC while being a perfect link with
the govt. department and community.
District
Project Management Unit (DPMU), World Bank, representative too shared few words
with the Swachhata Doots on their need and importance and how they can be
beneficial to the programme.
The
meeting was later presided over by Shri. D.A Sarkar, Block Development Officer
of Dimoria and briefed on the discussion and his insight about the programme
and the need of such orientation programme for Swachhata Doots.
